Music Curriculum

Weston Lullingfields’ music curriculum builds confidence through rhythm, pitch, and performance. Pupils explore music by singing, playing instruments, and composing, with enriching experiences like instrument lessons, live performances, and community events broadening their skills.

Music

At Weston Lullingfields Primary we appreciate the ‘power of Music can change lives’.  It offers our pupils the opportunity to be creative, gain confidence and learn life long skills.

As a school we follow ‘Sparkyard Music’ curriculum which enables all children to participate in many different ways.

Our aim is for pupils to participate in a range of musical experiences, whilst building up their confidence to appreciate and explore its many aspects.

Pupils will develop their understanding of rhythm and pitch and how music is structured, as well as learning technical vocabulary for these elements. As pupils’ confidence build, they will enjoy the performance aspect of music. Pupils will experience listening to music from different cultures and eras.

Elements include Singing, Playing Instruments, Improvising and Exploring, Composing, Listening and Appraising.

Wherever possible we aim to extend and enhance our pupils’ experience with opportunities such as the option of taking up musical instrument lessons, singing at local, regional or national events, participating in dramas, performances and plays, and experiencing live music and musical performances.
