Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is a grant from the government and is given to schools to pay for resources and provision to help pupils reach their full potential regardless of their background or financial situation, Reception class to Year 6. It is provided for pupils who:

  • Are registered for free school meals
  • Have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years
  • Are, or have been, in care
  • Have parents in the Armed Forces (this is known as Service Pupil Premium)

The school uses money in various ways to support individuals and groups of children. Each year the school publishes how the grant has been spent and its impact. Its purpose is to ensure that schools can pay for resources and initiatives that ensure that these children have the same opportunities as the other children in the school.

Measuring the impact of PPG spending
The impact of the PPG is measured every term using the school’s PPG provision map. Staff complete individual sheets outlining the provision and the impact that provision has had on attainment and progress of the children.

Year on year the support given to PPG children has ensured they are making expected progress or even higher in some cases, as their peers.

Every staff member is responsible for the impact and quality of the provision for PPG children.

This information is shared at Pupil Progress meetings with the SLT and at Governors Meetings.

The school follows the PPG policy that has been developed and adopted by the SLT and Governors.  This feeds in to the PPG provision mapping.

PPG children are high on the school’s agenda and every effort is made to ensure that we are diminishing the differences for all of our PPG children.
